"Thailand now houses a somewhat large surface finishing industry, comprising of thousands of plating lines and strong chains of chemical suppliers and equipment manufacturers, which firmly supports various major industries both locally and internationally including, automotive, electronics, sanitary and jewelry. With supportive infrastructure and long industrial experience of job platers and in-house platers, the manufacturing of many of globally-known brands’ products of high surface finishing standards are being conducted in Thailand.
"Nevertheless, the Thai plating industry is in the same shoes as other surface finishing industries in various parts of the globe, facing growing challenges in many fronts, namely changing of the technology landscapes, requirement of human resources with increased competency, and sustainability issues, especially carbon neutrality and waste management. To cope and strive amidst these challenges and to ride on the new waves of opportunities, Metallurgy & Materials Science Research Institute (MMRI), Chulalongkorn University and Thailand ElectroPlating Industrial Network Association (TEPNET) are determined to empower the Thai surface finishing industries for competency advancements and to bridge collaborations with various organizations and institutes both locally and internationally. |
