| To maintain Thailand’s position as an important automotive parts and assembly production base, and to get ready to support modern mobility as well as electric vehicles, the Ministry of Industry has assigned the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) to establish the Automotive and Tyre Testing, Research and Innovation Center (ATTRIC) on an area of 1,235 rai (approximately 1.97m sq.m) in the Suanpalat Krathing area, Chachoengsao Province which is in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). This is part of a strategy to promote and elevate Thailand to become ASEAN’s standard testing center of automotive parts, tires, as well as batteries for electric vehicles. The center will also facilitate local automakers, so they do not have to send products to be tested abroad, while creating incentives to increase foreign direct investment to further stimulate the national economy. |

To enhance knowledge and understanding about ATTRIC’s operation, the organizing team of Automotive Manufacturing event from RX Tradex, led by Managing Director Mrs. Varaporn Dhamcharee, the management, and sales and marketing team, visited ATTRIC on Thursday 15 February 2024. The team was warmly welcomed by ATTRIC’s Vice President of Testing and Engineering Mr. Worawuth Kovongpanich who also explained the mission of the center.
“Our vision is to become a leading organization in developing the automotive and parts industry for the future while being environmentally friendly and up to date. We received advice on the design and construction of this center as well as calibration systems from our partner agency in Spain to ensure international standards. Currently, we have already conducted standard testing and certification for some manufacturers of automobile tires and electric vehicle batteries.” |

In addition, the team had an opportunity to learn about the center’s operational guidelines and quality testing procedures by Auto Parts Testing and Engineering staff division Mr. Chutipong Sayjun and observed various systems testing grounds including tyre testing center for UN R117 standard, EV battery testing center, testing center for park brake and brake performance, dynamic platform, as well moving grounds for skid-pad test, which helped deepen the comprehension about the work and mission of ATTRIC.
“When the construction of this center is 100% complete, ATTRIC will be the fourth largest testing center of its kind in Asia. It will be able to fully support automakers looking to test and develop their products with international standard certification from both within Thailand and abroad,” Mr. Worawuth concluded. |
